Ackley Bob “A.B.” Adams, age 83, of Brooker, Florida went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, March 6, 2025, after an extended illness. He was born on February 16, 1942, in Ellisville, Florida to the late Jesse S. Adams and Dorothy Howell Adams.
A.B. had a strong work ethic. He was in construction for 48 years building many commercial projects including the Florida Welcome Center on I-95, Ft. White High Schol, numerous condos in St. Augustine, contributed to the construction of the new fellowship hall of Brooker Baptist Church, and dozens of other projects across Florida and South Georgia. Upon his retirement of commercial work, he became a home builder and developed Shady Oaks subdivision in Brooker, Florida. Throughout the years he poured into the younger generation by providing opportunities to gain knowledge and skills, while teaching the importance of hard work and life lessons. Through this he was given the nickname of “Papa Bear” and this nickname has stuck with him since.
In addition to his ambition for construction, he enjoyed being outdoors, farming, hunting, and fishing. His love for these things has been shared with and passed down to many friends and family members.
He was a member of Brooker Baptist Church and supported his community. He previously served as a council member for the city of Brooker, supporter of Brooker Athletic Association, and supported many FFA and 4H exhibitors.
In addition to his parents, A.B. was proceeded in death by his sister Amelia Adams Varnes and brother James Donald Adams. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Juanita S. Adams, son Bobby Adams (Tammy) of Brooker, daughter Ginger Wilkins (Terry) of Brooker; grandchildren, Taylor Wilkins Brittain (Skylar), Macy Adams, Tori Wilkins, Madison Adams Kite (Gavin), and Terryn Wilkins; great-grandchildren, Finley Brittain, Addyson Kite, and Hendrix Brittain; siblings Carol Crews, Wayne Adams, and Melinda Hancock.
A celebration of life will be held at his church, Brooker Baptist Church, 17197 Bradford Ave., Brooker, FL, on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at 11:00am with visitation beginning at 10:00am. He will be laid to rest immediately following the service at Philippi Baptist Church Cemetery, Lake City, FL.
