BRIEFLY DESCRIBE YOU ACTIVITIES SINCE GRADUATION: Having a good life!
After High School, I attended Madison Junior College for two years, graduated in 1962 and then transferred to Florida State Where I graduated in 1964 with a degree in Elementary Education. I married ken Cox in 1965 and settled in Lake City raising two sons, while playing the roll of a working Mom. I started out teaching 2nd grade, worked at H.R.S. as a Social Worker, helped my husband with his insurance business and then later went back to teaching sixth and second grades until I retired two years ago.
I had lived in Lake City during all that time, but in 2000 I remarried and moved off to Sebring Florida with my new husband. Jerry Leszkiewicz where we lived happily for five years. The pull of Lake City and my family roots here brought us back “Home” five years ago. My husband, Jerry who is now a retired consulting Civil Engineer and we have designed and recently built our retirement home here.
My oldest son, Ken, opened a Barbeque business on Main Street several years ago [Cox Bar-B-Q Pit) and I now help him out taking orders and working the cash register. Come see me there at lunchtime and enjoy the best barbeque in Florida-no Kidding! My youngest son, Vance, just opened his own Independent Insurance Agency called Brightway Insurance (he represents over 120 companies) Please go by and see him too. Located on Baya Ave. where his Dad’s State Farm agency use to be. (His dad has now retired)
My son, Vance and his wife Kim have provided me with two wonderful grand kids, and my husband has three children that have provided him with four grand kids and a fifth on the way. His oldest daughter is a physician in Columbia, South Carolina. His other daughter is a marketing Specialist with Cisco Systems in Potomac, Maryland. His son Craig is a Civil Engineer like his Dad, and working for CH2M Hill in Santa Ana, California.
Another special thing in my life is that both my parents are still alive. My Mom will be 90 this August and has a better memory than me. My Dad will be 93 this October and still drives to the office he keeps in my brother, John’s State Farm Ins. Building. As you can see I am surely blessed in so many ways and I praise the Lord for my many blessings.
My husband and I would like to spend our golden years doing some more traveling in the U. S. and overseas while we are still able.
