James Wilks

Mr. James Edwin Wilks, age 78, of Lake City, Florida died Tuesday, Aug. 17, in the V.A. Medical Center, Gainesville, Florida following a brief illness.

Mr. Wilks resided in Lake City, Florida all of his life and worked as a registered nurse with the V.A. Medical Center, Lake City, Florida for 32 years until his retirement. He was a graduate of Columbia High School Class of 1960 and received his associate of nursing degree from Lake City Community College. He was of the Baptist faith and loved gardening and collecting old bottles, coins and arrow heads.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Ann Wilks and his parents, James R. and Nettie Johnson Wilks.

He is survived by two daughters, Donna (Joe) Sheldon and Andrea (Adam) Paulk both of Lake City, Florida: one son, Michael (Jessica) Wilks of Lake City, Florida: grandson who was like a son, Jonathen Wilks: one sister, Shirley Flaherty of Hollywood, Florida: one brother, Don (Beverly) Wilks of Ocala, Florida: 13 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren also survive.

A graveside funeral service to honor the life of Mr. Wilks will  be held at 3 P.M. Tuesday, Aug. 24, In Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens with Rev. Larry Coates officiating. Visitation and gathering with the family will be from 2 to 3 P.M. Tuesday (One hour before services) at GUERRY FUNERAL HOME, 2659 S. W. Main Blvd., Lake City, Florida.
