50th Reunion

AFTER HI SCHOOL I EARNED A BA DEGREE IN POLITICAL SCIENCE FROM THE CITADEL IN CHARLESTON. SC.

ENTERED THE US AIR FORCE IN SEP. 1964. SERVED 4 YEARS ACTIVE DUTY PLUS 4 YEARS IN THE RESERVE. STATIONED IN ILLINOIS AND SOUTH CAROLINA.

AFTER THE SERVICE I WORKED FOR THE STATE GOVERNMENTS OF SOUTH CAROLINA AND FLORIDA.

I HAD A 6 YEAR STINT IN THE CAR BUSINESS IN LAKE CITY.

FOR THE LAST 30 YEARS, I’VE BEEN IN THE PRODUCE BUSINESS AND CURRENTLY RESIDE IN NEW JERSEY.

HAVE 4 ADULT CHILDREN AND 8 GRAND CHILDREN.

IN ADDITION TO A LIFE-LONG LOVE OF GOD, MY FAMILY AND MY WORK, I HAVE MAINTAINED A PASSION FOR GOLF.

MY WORK AND MY GOLF HAVE TAKEN ME TO MANY PLACES AND PUT ME IN THE COMPANY OF SOME NICE PEOPLE; BUT NO PLACES OR PEOPLE AS NICE AS THOSE IN LAKE CITY.

I HAVE ATTENDED THE LAST TWO OCTOBER GATHERINGS. DUE TO THE HARD WORK AND HOSPITALITY OF SOME OF OUR CLASSMATES, THESE GATHERINGS AND THOSE WHO ATTENDED HAVE BECOME VERY SPECIAL TO ME. FOR THAT REASON, I LOOK FORWARD TO THE 50TH REUNION!!!

GOD BLESS ALL WHO READ THIS.

Doc, I would be shocked if you remembered me, my family landed in Lake City in 1955 and were only there about one year. were livEd directly across the street from the high school and there were 4 of us Baker boys then. later 6. I met you that summer at the city pool and I have often wondered what happened to you. I started my career in football there and zit lasted for some 40 years. Who knew? My main claim to fame that year (1955) was that I made the Jr. high all stars on both offense and defense and it was the first time that I had ever had on football pads. I remember few names now, these 58 years since!
One name, “Herk Johnson,” a tough guy who did not play football but was a guy no one messed with. David Box, a player and the rest of those names have faded from my memory.
As for you, I remember how cool I thought you were! You dressed well and knew all the pretty girls! At least I thought you did. 🙂 Life has been extremely good to me, I am unworthy of the honors and the circumstances I have enjoyed. Thank you for the friendly guy you were so long ago! I would enjoy a response if you feel so moved! G.B. By the way I was called “Junior” then. G.B.
